the latest os by Microsoft, windows vista, is equipped with a feature which disables all software which is not genuine, i.e. not purchased or without a valid registration hence everything that's downloaded from the internet and cracked won't work on your computer. now, i hear there's a way around it but not having seen let alone used vista, i wouldn't know where to start looking. does anybody have any idea how this thing works? is there a way to eliminate this block on vista? i appreciate your help. thanks, daniel

Why would you want to know this when you've not even seen Vista?

Ha! Zing!

Although, even then you're not guaranteed the software will work...

The best thing to do is stick to XP for the foreseeable future.

Caseby case basis.
There are a lot of devices in Vista there "to protect you".
Many, if not most, of these can be circumvented, and it may be that you are merely inhibited by one of these mechanisms.

Having said that, I, and others here, won't help you be illegal.

You could also of course be patient and wait for Windows Vista cracks to come out. There's always some dude who finds a way to crack software in such a way as to let Vista think it's still ok. After all, it's only stupid software, no real intelligence behind it, other than ms has put in it, and that is already obsolete. Buying legit stuff is of course the easiest option to avoid trouble, but if you really insist on being a bad guy, stick to XP, because that WORKS for a change. I've had nothing but trouble with Vista and I didn't even try to get illegal stuff on it 😛😕
