I've just checked "To Leave it Behind" but the acoustic guitar is not really my thing. Is that representative of them? I much prefer Buck 65's approach to folk than that.
They are a folk band in the same vein as Band Of Horses, or Iron & Wine, Belle & Sebastien, Simon and Garfunkel etc.

I think they won Best Canadian Album of the year.

They are playing the Dakota theatre in Toronto Nov 5 if you around. You me and darvlay could go for pints

The Great Lake Swimmers announce brand new Canadian tour dates, as the accolades surrounding the group’s latest album Lost Channels continues to roll in. Fresh off a Short List Nomination for this year’s Polaris Music Prize, the Toronto indie folk group has been nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Awards for Contemporary Album Of The Year.

Ah. They were Shortlisted. I see. I didn't know if you were talkinga bout a Juno or if the Grammy's finally gave us the category we deserved.

By the way, the Polaris Prize needs to step it up. $20,000 only? I got over half that for giving HBO 8 seconds of a song last year.

I blame Spotify for my lack of interest in searching albums from 2009.

Sure he killed himself a few years ago but i think they put some kind of complilation thingy together of Elliot Smith songs.

Try "Needle in the Hay" for a good sample song.
