I bought myself a PS3 and a HD tv to really get the best out of it visually.

Obviously, now I am penniless, I will be exploring the PS3's back catalogue of games as they are cheap because they are a bit old. They are not old to me as I've never played them. Is there anything you have played that you would recommend for me to get? I have already decided to get God of War 3 and Borderlands. Any hidden gems? Games you enjoyed but didn't get the sales/reviews you thought they deserved?

Cheers,
Cad

Assassin's Creed.

You won't go wrong with that series.

And if you need to lose a few months, the Prince of Persia series.
The Sands of Time
Warrior Within
The Two Thrones

Edit: Loads of fighting, tricky puzzles.

How about word games? Any good ones for the PS3? Nordlys and I are curious.

I tried Assasins Creed at a mates house and I must say I found the controls a bit unnatural, I have heard they have tweaked them for the sequel. Anyhoo I may give it another try if it's cheap enough...

I bought God of War 3 last night, I love it already, forgot how infuriating some of the puzzles can be, especially if you can't see what you're meant to be doing. Just wandering around for ages pulling, grabbing, smashing and shooting everything until something works. Like it though so I might give the PoP a try.

The last console I owned was a NES. Is this hurting my geek cred?

Mimor, Mimor, Mimor, games consoles are for men and are essential bits of kit.

Girls have their own games consoles called vacuum cleaners and kitchens and curling tongs and stuff.

Word games are for the silly in the mind.

Word games...tee hee

You are so cute.

I bet none of your kids are allowed to play with matches.

🙄

Edit: And Nordlys would spend her time better getting her snow thing together, she could start by learning the words "Keep your Snow"!!!!!1

For on online blast, "Battlefield 2 : BC 2". £16 on Amazon. A steal.

Edit : Or even the original "Battlefield: Bad Company" if for solo play. 9 quid on play.com. Servers are probably empty by now though.

Being a word game aficionado, Nordlys instantly anagrammed "keep your snow" to "Unyoke powers!!" and she obliged by sending you lots of nordic weather.

Ungrateful wretch. 😠

WTF are these curling tongs you speak of? And vacuum cleaners? I don't understand.

Edit: I would have used LOL, but LOL is ggay

Edit 1:Vacuum's are for keeping the house clean and curling tongs are for your hair, that might be the other way around though, best to get advice from someone who knows about these things.

Ok, I bought the first Prince of Persia yesterday along with Red Dead Redemption, started to play Red Dead first and I like it, the controls are going to take a bit of getting used to but Rockstar never fail with sandbox games.

Mass effect 2 is amazing to play...if you're into that type of thing (cover based shooter wi th rpg and great graphics).

I play a PC so i can only tell you what i've enjoyed playing.

Biohsock is a good cheap old game (bioshock 2 is a multiplayer, leave well alone).

I like fallout NV, but it's a bit new.

I just got a whack of games from the last steam sale including Mafia 2, Nepoleon total war, and Far Cry 2.
