..zorro..or "the fox"...was a fictional character who lived in old californio...a time when california was loosely governed by the mexicans after the spanish abandoned it and the california mission system as well ( a fallout from the mexican war of independence ( el grito de delores ) in 1821...anyway..the mexicans were bad administrators and a little corrupt..so the fox upheld the old way of the ranchos lifestyle against the "evil" mexican army...so the story goes...so what is the point...well spain owned california and mexico took it with a gun...then someone took it from the mexicans with a gun...mmm...live by the gun...die by the gun...so i don't want to hear anymore about how the usa "stole" the southwest from the mexicans..or i will telephone the spanish ambassador and remind him that he is sleeping on the job...he needs to send a diplomatic note to the mexicans dated 1821, addressed..."dear son, you with the gun, give me back my land..signed, dad"...
