Well, they finally did it. At work they have blocked all access to this chess site. No Chess @ Work, Red Hot Pawn, etc... All of them. Does anyone know of a "work around"? The old "end around" so to speak? There must be some sort of a back door to the system. I miss getting on the site during my lunch hour.

I'm looking forward to your responses.
Isn't there a chance giving the IP number directly, and thus avoid the DNS-server?
Because the blocker just detects the URL, doesn't it?
Why do they do such a nasty things? Don't they appreciate happy employees?

Do what I do.
Become self employed, then you can play chess all day and there is nothing your employer can do about it.

Assuming you are using a windows box, open a command prompt (window + R, cmd, enter). At the prompt type ping redhotpawn.com, that will display the ip address. It should look something like this:
A company where I have worked a couple of years ago, had some sites blocked during working hours (news sites and such) and those sites were only available during the lunch break. That would be better.

No, it caught the IP number. Damn! And the proxy that was mentioned.
I think the IT guys where I work are pretty good at what they do.
