I started a 3 day ladder game 9 days ago. My opponent has white and has not yet made a move. The clock is not running. How does this game proceed?

Can you delete the game?

I looked at both the game site and the ladder site and I don't see any way to delete the game.

The clock shows that the opponent has 2 hours 53 of time-bank remaining as I type this so I think the bin will show after then. When I last played ladder games I learned you had to check the person you challenged was active otherwise you are stuck with the game until the time expires.

Thanks for the help. I don't see the clock that you mentioned. I checked under "my games" and "ladders" and both seem to show that the clock hasn't started to run. Where did you look?

Thanks again,

Bob

@Ragwort
Now I see it. I missed it before because the line showing the time used isn't turning red. You have to look at the numbers showing "time remaining". I learned something.

Thanks,

Bob

If you go to Help/FAQ and click the ladder tab, it states in there that you cannot delete a ladder game. All you can do is resign.

I have played a few ladder games, and have learned the hard way that it is a good idea to take a look at a persons profile and specifically look at how long it has been since their last move. Some people leave the site, but are still on the ladder. So if you just send them a challenge without checking their last move time, you can end up with the exact same situation as the OP of this thread is in.

The game is valid, but you now find that the person you challenged is not moving. Since it's a ladder game, you cannot just delete it like you could in a regular game So you are stuck, and all you can do to get out of it is to resign.

Maybe it would be a nice improvement if there were an automatic window that pops up in the ladder games that lets you know automatically when the person being challenged last moved, so you can back out of making the ladder game challenge before you are trapped.

I think that was because your opponent had first move. As it was an "unstarted game" I put the game id number into the game directory search and that gave me the access to the clock - otherwise I only saw what you did.
