It's a pity a potentially interesting thread has probably already been sabotaged by a lame attempt to be controversial. The Bible has some good bits, some dull bits, some mad bits, and some fictional bits. The Book of Job is a philosophical fiction; it's actually quite good.

The worst fiction was some dreadful story about a twin who killed his brother that started at the "last" chapter.

Just dreadful, and so profoundly disappointing from a guy who wrote Childhood's End and
the Space Odyssey stuff. I mean, it made Andromena Strain look like classic literature.

You beat me to it! What are the chances of that? Just shows what an appallingly bad book this was.
it just never occurred to me that the Cradle would suck so royally. It's very possible that the book
isn't really all that awful, but merely just a poor showing because I hold him to a standard higher
than I hold John Grisham or Dan Brown.
Then again, it was pretty awful...
