That wasn't pseudo-analysis, that was extremely sound and interesting analysis by a very strong player. I really enjoyed going over the games fifthdivision posted here.
As a non-subscriber, I have to say that this sort of thing puts me of joining this site properly. Banning someone for engine use is a big deal and some sort of evidence should be presented by the people who made the decision.
So if you play in the way a computer would you're screwed 😞

Btw, did anyone google fifthdivision alongside chess? I found a defunct homepage on some art sight where the user 'fifthdivision' mentioned playing chess on playchess - but which was also adorned with the swastika. Fifthdivision presumably being some army term of the Nazi's?
See what you mean. If it's the same guy, somehow he doesn't sound like a Hungarian IM...

If the "fifthdivision" is really this one:
http://www.depthcore.com/v5/profile/200/
Then his name is Dylan Szabo and his rating seems to be about 1000 ELO (see http://66.249.93.104/search?q=cache:HbAs14ubsxwJ:www.chess.ca/Ratings/ratorder.txt+%22Szabo,+dylan%22)
I must admit Szabo is a Hungarian name, but I'm more inclined to think that "Fifth Division" means something special to Hungarians (hopefully not something Nazi-ish). I don't believe Dylan Szabo is the fifthdivision who played and posted here.
Originally posted by Fat Ladywell, I can't say anything else about the analysis but that it looks convincing to me. apparently varenka thinks otherwise, but I can't really tell.

what I know, is no computer has been even close to pass the turing test yet. and although I don't know exactly what kind of statistical analysis the gamemods do, I do know it should be almost childlishly easy to tell a computer generated signal (which we can interpret a set of games to be) apart from a human generated one, with proper statistical methods. it takes some computing, but it's not that hard.
furthermore, once you set up a method, you can test it to see what kind of accuracy it gives, and give a value of uncertainty based on it. I've seen the mods mentioning very slim probabilities, I think it was something like one to billion concerning 'jean hebert'.
of course, the less you cheat, the harder it is to spot. but it'll also aid your play that much less.

No one asked these people to prove it and look who they turned out to be. And if they were asked to prove it, they left in a rush and didn't come back/got banned.

Originally posted by huckleberryhoundNo. This was the guy who joined up, claimed he was Yasser Seirewan, offered chess advice to people, and said something stupid about the Kings Indian been the Queen's Fianchetto Opening or some crap like that. He claimed he was going to give 40 subs to poor children in the Seattle area. Then got challenged by Bbarr, got soundly thrashed and then left the site, never to return.
think you made a mistake with the first one dude 🙂

There's a thread started by Russ (who I gather is the owner of this site) which says that he checked up on Yasser, and it was indeed him.

However the single game he played was laughably bad.
And quote "I am currently playing 2842 games" lol🙄🙄
I think Russ said something apologising about it somewhere, but maybe I'm mistaken.

"I am currently playing exactly 4842 concurrent games through e-mail and other postal chess methods."
(I love the use of the word 'exactly'😉
He also claimed to play 5 OTB games per day.
Despite all this, he still had the time to run several multi-national companies!
How could anyone doubt him?
