Ok. Karpov's performance in Tal blitz tournament was 2690. Show me his last tournaments with standard time control where he made 2690 performance.

In Donostia chess festival (2009) his performance was 2407.

I claim that any 2500 ELO strength player can have a 2690 performance in a tournament...
I do believe that players performance varies with something like +/-150 or so(maybe even more, like 200) depending on their form.

Am I correct ?

yes, I believe that Karpov can still perform 2690 in a standard tournament these days...

How many examples can you find to support your claim?

I guess for 2500 it would be possible to reach such a performance in tournament with 2400-2500 rated players, but in tournament with 2600-2700 rated (to say nothing about top GMs) it's very unlikely. Exception would be if that player is talented youngster, making fast progress.

how many examples ? many, I think in every open tournament you can find few.
Opening randomly to tournaments on chessbase site where also weaker players competed(as I cannot find weaker players in superGMs tournaments they usually write about):

Hammer is talented youngster (as heinzkat already pointed out).

Zatonskih played against much weaker opposition - she had the highest rating and almost all of her opponents (except Krush) were rated below 2400.

More examples please.

I would like to see someone who is not youngster (veteran player would be ideal evidence of Karpov's potential) and who has strong opposition (like Karpov in Tal Memorial blitz).

I am too lazy to search for other Open tournament, you can do it for yourself, search ANY open tournament and take top standings 2500 players...
by the way, see what Ivanchuck said about his blitz tournament:

given his form, the way he was knockout out in this World Cup, it does not look such a great surprize that Karpov was better in standings than him...

Hard to know about the old guys.

I get the feeling chess is just a hobby for Karpov these days. Where would he be if he still trained? Having said which we can only evaluate on what he does.

Why should it be my problem if you are "too lazy" to back up your claims?
Whatever Ivanchuk will say, it won`t change the fact that today Karpov`s best performances are worse than Ivanchuk`s worst ones.
