Is this possible? I didn't think it was but I'm in a game where that is all that is left on the board (well, that and the opponent's King) and the game didn't become a draw, it's still going on!
Is this possible or only a glitz in the site?
Game 3530497
ps: don't tell me HOW it's done, it's a tournament game. I'm just wondering wether it's worth playing or not.

But, all bets aside, it's a draw, period.

If Rhp doesn't allow that draw till the 50 move rule, you will be there for awhile!
And no, you can't mate.
Originally posted by BedingbedangWhen you say 'the game didn't become a draw', do you mean that it didn't default to a draw, or that you tried the claim draw function and it didn't work?

A draw is determined by: 1. A decision by both players, 2.If a player forces it (Making a move so that your opponent cant make a legal move w/out putting him/herself in check, 3.Playing 50 moves w/out a capture or a pawn move.
This game falls under rule 3. Because black has insufficient material. If white had a pawn that could block its own king, then maybe... a checkmate would occur.
This game is a draw.
Draws occur under any of the following.
1) Mutual agreement.
2) Stalemate (player to move not in check, but without a legal move).
3) Three-fold repetition of position, factoring in player to move, ability to castle, en passant, etc. (must be claimed by player to move)
4) Perpetual check (one player can keep checking the other, but not able to deliver mate, a variant of #3)
5) 50 moves pass without any captures or pawn moves, if claimed by the player to move.
6) Insufficient material to allow checkmate, even with the help of the other player. (KvK, KNvK, KBvK, KBvKB if bishops can threaten each other)
Originally posted by BedingbedangNope, it's a draw, but RHP doesn't currently recognize draws due to insufficient material.

I had a game just the other day go down to lone king against lone king, and it still didn't automatically draw. One of us had to offer and the other accepted.
Offer your opponent the draw. It can't be won.
