I'm here tonight to speak out about whether chess is a port. Of course chess isn't a port! A port is filled with water. Lots and lots of water, all over the place. Except for some water bottles next to the boards, there's hardly any water in chess!
No boats though, I have to admit that.
First off, RAMNED, try telling FIDE that this is a NON issue. Try telling them that it aint important. DId you happen to read the article from CNN/TIME that I posted? Here it is again if you didn't.

Here is one excerpt, "Neither FIDE nor WBF is taking the rejection lightly. Gaining recognition as an official Olympic sport could greatly benefit the games, raising their profiles in countries where they don't get much government funding. At one point, FIDE considered suing the IOC in the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which handles international sport disputes in Lausanne, Switzerland, but later relented. Peter Rajcsanyi, public-relations director of FIDE, admits that "our strength is not in the court" and that FIDE is now in "the process of serious negotiations [with the IOC] and improving relations." To that end, the chess organization has opened an office in Lausanne with the aim of getting closer to IOC officials, as well as promoting chess as an international sport, Rajcsanyi says."
Now, RAMNED, I challenge you once again to say that this is NOT an important issue and does not deserve to be talked about.
Do *I* want it to be a sport? No way.
If it is a sport, then any doping controller can come to my place and take a urine-test whenever they chose. I cannot ever dring three cups of coffee at the board. And if they think I have taken any substances not aproved by the sport federation, I'm off competition for several years.
Chess a sport? No, thank you!

Keep your filthy hands off our chess! 😀

I cannot say it LOUD enough or enough times. If anyone posts in my thread and DOES NOT make a credible argument, you will be IGNORED. All responses that troll for a response from me by calling me out and attacking me in front of all MY friends and fans, will be logged and submitted to the ADMIN of this site.
I have rested my case. The jury has made its mind up. It's as official as it can ever get: Chess is NOT a sport. Even not a teeny tiny bit.

You ignored mine.
I'd suppose its only fair.
You're right about not defining a rule under a minority...I was rather making a point that when someone says for "anyone", "always", "never" or any other definitive statement you open yourself to argument. My point is that (despite what he has claimed) he is not the expert debater that he claimed to be.
As for the platypus, I would say that it hasn't effected the definition of a mammale...rather it simply defined the exception rather than the rule at large (of what defines a mammale)
Originally posted by cheater1Oh but I have made a credible argument. I quoted you against yourself. I figured there would be no more credible argument then that produced by "his godliness...." Anyways, the point of my long (and slightly trollish) post was that (once again) you are over stating your purpose and claim in an otherwise useless field (in all honesty, chess I agree: chess is not a sport. But it's not going to affect my level of play or defile what I humbly think is the greatest on earth...it's just pointless spewing)...furthermore: when confronted, you try to disprove your opponent by saying they are not credible....this is bordering the realm of straw-man arguement and dancing in "I'm-right-because-you're-wrong-and-you're-wrong-because-I-said-so" terrirory
