How can it be close minded when it is basically true? I have read the book through and through many times and find more and more lies every time I do. I will admit to the use of hyperbole, however.

I doubt that you, with your oh so open mind, have put much effort into reading religious texts. I have read the Quran, Torah, as well as Theravda, Mahayana, and Tibetan buddhist texts.

One who goes around spouting about what is wrong with everybody else is the one whom appears close minded.

Lol, interesting way of looking at it, I dunno, i just have no confidence. May give up chess entirely, go back to playing Ludo.

1572 and an exit rating of 1717 + 100 pts bonus for being one of the
winners of the tournament. ....
That is really strange!
I skimmed your post, having nothing better to do before dinner but read the always entertaining Forum, and the words World Open caught my eye.
So, I read the whole thing.
Anyway, my greatest single boost in rating points was in the 1978 World Open, same under 1600 section you were in 4 years later! So, I dug out the print-out. (Never throw anything away.) I also tied for 1st with 2 others. 9 games played, went 7-1-1, my start rating was 1588, and my post event rating was 1740. But, I didn't get any 100 pt boost for winning the event! Neither did the other 2 guys who tied for first: Jose Frias(NY) 1698 to 1787 (obviously a sandbagger by the way! But for $1500 I can't blame him.) and Ivan Nieves(PR) 1595/6 to 1805 (provisional ratings would gain more, naturally.)
Never heard of a point bonus for winning a section in the USCF. Strange.

Could White not give the piece back with Bxb2?
Hi GP II

You need to post a diagram mate so I can see what's going on. I'm
not hacking all the way back to find it. (is it on this thread?)

If memory serves is it not a White squared Bishop (I know it goes to e8
and got all those !!!) e8 is a White square, b2 is Black. Is it a typo?
I'm an expert on typo's.

I'll think I'm on good ground claiming Korchnoi was in time trouble.
time control is usually move 40 and players often add in a couple of moves
especially if they ticking their moves.

What a thread.
Expecting FTP's to be raised soon on religious grounds.
"Hey Russ, ?????????????? must be a cheat because I think he's a Hindu."

I used to hound the Religious Forum when it was quiet on here.
I've done nearly 61 orbits of the sun, when you have seen what I have seen....

Then one day got a PM from a lad whose views and belief I had changed.
I never intended that. That was awful of me. I had no right,
I bade them all farewell and have never been back since. Nor will I.

I see the pack are ripping RJ to shreds.
I know loads of good chess players who cannot express themselves or
explain why such and such a move is good or bad.

I know a lot more of the reverse.
Poor players who have all the answers. 🙂

Is he at it?
I'm in the Robbie camp on that one, I could not care less. I won't play him.
But I'd hate to think he using a box against some of my under 1400 players.
They play mean but clean down there.

It sad to see a fellow chess player defending himself in this way.
His book on tactics has fallen to bits and is being held together with selotape.
So is his street cred by the looks of things.

Waiting for him to say: "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone." 😉

Goodnight GP II

PS: Do me and everyone else a favour.

Well, now you have. Perhaps I was given it by mistake.

I don't believe you. I think it does. 😏

What you believe is actually irrelevant Ron, it's what the rest of the community here believes. With that regard you seem to be on you're own. The simple fact is this, you're eventually going to run out of people to play on this website. Have you wondered why a few people have deleted games against you lately? You can glibly dismiss the evidence but other people don't and they understand what it means. As i said before, you've made your bed old man, now you have to lie in it.

me and beetle have had many excellent chess discussions in spirituality using the royal
game as an analogy. I even posted some of the Popes games once, John Paul II, he
was quite a good player by all accounts. 🙂

I'm very surprised Korchnoi missed it. (TT?)
That position is not easy for White. The b-pawn is massive.
Threat Q+ and b2.

Anway......The smoke clears and White has fluked an ending.
Hi GP,

This was the position you posted. I was wondering if Bxb3 saves the day?

Good morning GP II.

Not interested if it saves the day. Is White still winning after White's
(I've forgotten his name) deep thought leading to the most magnificent
ending of all time. 🙂

The White h-pawn is a runner. Black's a-pawn is a runner.
Black has loads and loads of checks. Surprised Korchnoi missed it. (TT).

At least I am honest enough to sign on to this sight with my real name.
Only Ian Maver appears to have signed on with his real name of the top
10 rated players here, but he is from the UK. It seems strange that you
have not gone out of your way to check him for computer engine matchup
rates seeing he has no loses. By the way, I have played the top four and
they have all beat me. I am currently playing number 5 and he appears
to have an advantage on me. But none of these players have challenged
your beliefs. Strange. 😏

I fail to see why whether or not i use my real name is a question of 'honesty'. It's also site, not sight.

So? There's no rule that says you have to use your real name.

By the way, I have played the top four and they have all beat me.

As i said before, you obviously need a stronger engine.

But none of these players have challenged your beliefs.

You seriously think you've 'challenged' my beliefs?!🙄 Talk about delusions of grandeur.

Maybe those other top players fall in one of two categories:
- there are loose ends in their story as well
- their posts indicate they understand chess at the level at which they play chess
