Has anyone got theirs yet? I have not owned Fritz for a long time so I'm quite excited at this prospect. I hope F10 will not be buggy as I'll not wait for any service packs/patches but will get it this week.

What engines have you been using instead of Fritz?

I spar with GnuChess and Surprise which are quite weakish but humanlike (perhaps this is why openings are my weak point). I have not seen/owned any of the modern versions of fritz/juniour/shredder etc

I analyse my games by hand and while it takes time/does not answer all my questions, it improves me more than most of you who rely on Fritz to assess a position.

I still want to know what 10 has going for it, i mean chess wise. The media system i like. I'm not interested in 3d pieces, robots that make the moves, or the weather, funny comments that become annoying et al. Give me something i can use!

Has anyone had an indepth test? Can you install it say on an XP desktop and XP laptop or is it like XP which requires two licences for both?

Any DB functions? Or will I have to shell out for Chessbase?

Any talk or chating function?

Well the legal release date isn't till 2morrow, I think it was released in Germany at the start of the month (maybe there is a german person here who has it). If you can't wait of course you could always download it.

Nice little 3gig torrent file doing the rounds at the mo. I'm hoping chessdirect is quick at sending me my copy, usually shops get it a few days beforehand so customers get the product on day of release.

F9 has DB functions. It isn't as good as chessbase, but I think you'll find it's sufficient once you've figured it out.

Nah I wouldn't get Fritz on the torrent as I would consider that cheating. I would be glad to be part of the development/support of Chessbase for the tiny sum of £36 for F10. Infact some dude from here PM'd me offering F9 by download but I wouldn't have that.

I think we should support chess development and mentions of where to find warez should be deleted from the forum. This is not only because it is illegal and RHP may perhaps be sued, but also because it is not moral to take someone's hard work for free. Programmers have families to feed too.

So do the people purchasing the often overpriced products.

Pics from chessbase look quality

Can't wait to get it, here's hoping they can write a decent manual this time around. In fact they should include a video showcasing the features of fritz, there's people on playchess that don't even realise that every game they play or watch gets saved on their comp for them. Little things like that are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to fritz, it has loads of useful features that many people don't even know about due to awful instructions.

Nobody can be a true chess fan and then participate in illegal copying/distribution of what they claim to support. Every penny I spend on chess be it for magazines, tournament entry fees, supporting my chess club, books etc is because I love chess.

Chess software is often low cost. Considering you get access to playchess, that is very good value for money.

Chessbase, and Corr. Database programs tend to be around $80+ (or more?) which seems ridiculous.

Actually it's a lot more, CB9 is over 150 Euros.
