Audacious, how long did it take to come in the post from when you ordered it? Does it have a fancy talk CD?
As for the fancy talk do you mean they stupid voice that taunt's you and says stupid stuff like, last night I played against the fax machine.
I recently bought Fritz 9 (at £17) after having Fritz 7 for several years. I have been very pleased with it. I find the full analysis is great. I am up in many more games than I thought but the ones I lose are more to not seeing the killer move than actually having a bad position.
I will not be buying 10 though, not for a couple of years anyway.
Originally posted by z00tI've been using Fritz 8 and was thinking about upgrading to version 9. Can you or anyone tell me if the database for ver 9 is larger than ver 8? I can't see any reason to buy version 10 because I don't use it to play online. I use it for study.
I knew 10 was about to be released when internet searches for fritz 9 revealed prices of £17 (half-price). There is nothing more annoying than buying somthing then having the next version come out. I would suspect that CB10 would be knocking on the door too.
The min rec specs for Fritz 10 will mean PC's more than a few years old cannot run it successfully.

I've been trying out some of the new features of fritz 10 which appear to be really good and I'm hoping it'll improve my game. If you click help you have the option to turn on threatened squares(fritz9 has this) due to me playing so many bullet games I have a habit of not seeing the whole board and I tend to get too caught up in my plan rather than looking at the whole board, this function points out the squares that are protected, attacked etc. Here's a screenshot of this in action.

New fritz 10 feature is called dynamic hints, this is when you select a piece to move, it highlights the areas where the piece can move, attack etc

And it also has a feature called opening hints which displays arrows during the opening.

Originally posted by arrakisYeah but you wouldn't be saying that if you just started chess and you where having trouble. As I said it's just another learning feature which players can use if they wish. Just nice to see improvements in fritz imo, makes them more user friendly.
