I've not waded through the rest of this thread so I may be repeating what others have written.

I think if you're really competitive about your speed chess rating though, on any server, the thing to do is to know when *not* to play. Don't play when you're drunk, tired, thirsting for revenge, curious about the Grob, thinking about something else, might be interupted, when you've been blundering, and so on. Build up a personal list of moods/situations where you play poorly and avoid them rigidly. Btw, I'm not that competitive - I just notice my rating yoyo's downward in the context of that kind of thing.

Btw. I used to play on playchess. I think I had a blitz of usually about 2200-2300. Bullet a lot lower, don't think I had a standard. Currently 1967 blitz on FICS.

2200 on PlayChess and you are 1660 here? That must be a provisional result or something. I dunno about 1600s here but I played a couple of 1700s here who played very strongly punishing me for blitzing, but then missing simple continuations which allowed me to draw in one case and to bag the full point in the other.

If you were genuinely 2200-2300 on PlayChess you should be sweeping the floor with 1600-2000 players here.

Hmm I had an 1800 blitz rating on playchess which just fell into the 1700s but I'm usually a 1600 here...

I figured out my main problem to be with poor time management and marathon sessions. My account has expired though so I haven't been able to play blitz anymore.

Moron. If I was going to lie, I'd make the rating a lot higher than that.

Ya know if you're gonna tell fibs its best to stick with lines we've heard before :-

- you can see tactics faster than Fritz etc etc
- your friend can match 9 out of 10 moves with Fritz and the 10th is even better, only prob your friend is 2300 and even GK doesn't do that.

Or you can wait till April Fools day, when we might swallow that.

I don't know why you're so bitter about being worse than me at blitz.

I'm not bitter, there are already loads of people better than me at CC/Speedchess. Its only the manner you have wildly exaggerated your claims particularly as this thread and others on speedchess have gone on for a while and now you have "suddenly remembered" that you are good at speedchess.

So you don't believe my FICS rating either?

I figured the easiest way to solve this was to get a Playchess rating >2200 again. I created the account CymmoT just now to do this, rather than play as I usually would on FICS. It took 12 games.

* yawn *

12 games? It's still provisional.

You don't think the point is made, then?

You agree with z00t that I lie about my ratings?

Really?

I believe you...because I know that 1967 on fics is preatty strong, most of FMs are around 2000 (+/-100). What it is still provisional for you it is your RHP rating, that needs more games to get where you should be (and procedure, getting used with long games, databases use, etc)

If you play more games and keep the 2200 I'll believe you.
