I've heard different people say different things, but I was curious what you thought about how many points a queen is worth...some say 8 points...some say 9...I've even heard a few call a queen worth 10 points...

In other words...is a queen worth trading for a rook and a bishop?

Wouldn't it be good if threads didn't HAVE to rule(as I doubt it's intended), and they could be repeated every so often for new people?

The value of any piece is dependant on the possition. A queen that is en prise, and has no escape square is probably not very valuable. While a pawn that gives checkmate is immeasurably valuable.

I think the regular points given are something like this:

1=Pawn
3=Knight
3/3.5=Bishop
5=Rook
9/10=Queen
