that's how everything works. there is no person, no subject that is itself and only itself. everyone and everything is built up with "others", outsiders.
so when you play in otb and reply with ...c5 against 1.e4, white is not actually playing you. he too is playing against the masters of sicilian defense. have you come up with the c5 idea, not ever being ...[text shortened]... n in your argument, yes, me and my opponent are both cheating. but we aren't, are we?

I wish people in this thread would stop encouraging abuse of the Vacation System.
even though the admins "technically" state that abuse of the vacation option is against the rules, it seems like they allow it as a means to drive subscriptions. in other words, it would be an easy problem to fix - you should only be allowed to engage it a certain number of times, within limits (people don't go on vacation THAT often). however, the site designers seem to ride the fence on this one. on the one hand, they say it's wrong, on the other, it's one of the few perks they can offer for subscribers. it makes business sense if nothing else. if you have the option, why not use it?
