Seems a bit harsh, a forum ban would have been more suitable would it not ?
And in the spirit of this being a family friendly forum, I kept my description deliberately vague and though it gives you an idea of what he did, it really, really doesn't do justice to just how disturbing and disgusting it was what he posted on a chess site, of all places.
Originally posted by MctaytoIt's disgusting to *even think* (or talk about) what he posted it but I agree with you.

A permanent forum ban would have been sufficient enough to shut him up forever. He could still play chess.
However, he violated the TOS agreement by posting extremely unappropriate material. The mods are right.
The mods are doing a great job. They are surely not banning innocent people. I have 100% faith in them that they are doing their job right with honesty.

That said another member on here had his avatar blocked because he had topless women as his avatar. That does appear over kill given that virtually all dailys carry said pics which are available to all age groups. Where does one draw the line in the sand ??

"Hi I'm Matt and I have almost "solved" the Nxf7 line in the traxler, something that even GM's couldnt do"
I can think of a lot of funny stuff to say about that , but I will leave it up to you guys 😉

Another point which might possibly be overlooked in this forum, is embodied by statements discussing whether a ratings climb to 1980 from 1600 over a given period of time is reasonable: just because his rating was 1980 when banned, doesn't mean that his recent games were played at about the level of a 2000 rated player. In fact, one would presume that if a strong chess engine was used, his level of play would, often enough or unambiguously enough, need to be considerably higher, in order for the administrators to judge engine use to be at work. So that might have been an additional factor in making a determination. There are various ways to estimate playing skill, including software and/or analysis by a consultation team of master level players.
So, if some individuals find his ratings climb a bit steep, whereas others do not, I suspect that if my reasoning is correct we are actually talking about a much steeper climb in demonstrated chess ability -- one which the rating had yet to catch up with.

Guess what - my IP address has been banned - does this mean that ihsens is using double standards and reported me to the mods for breaking the rules 😀

ih8sens gets banned is a longer thread than the death of Bobby Fischer...where's our perspective?
