I signed up with the user name "ih8sensisanengineuser" and sent a personal message to ih8sens asking what engine he used.
Guess what - my IP address has been banned - does this mean that ihsens is using double standards and reported me to the mods for breaking the rules 😀
Interestingly I looked at that site briefly and couldn't find anything on whether or not they prohibited engine use there, or if they did, whether or not they even looked for it. Needless to say, for me that makes that site a no-go as a secondary chess site, since if I wanted to play an engine I wouldn't need to do it CC. Which is just fine right now anyway, as I'm finding my current 6 games to be a heavy enough game load.
But getting back to my point, if they don't prohibit engines then he's at least found the appropriate home for himself.

I figured he used an engine. No player simply jumps from 1500 to 1900 in a matter of 2 months.
and the same could be said for those who have spent a signfiicant amount of time hovering around 1300 and who have now either passed or who are claiming to be on their way to 1800 ....

I was suspicious, never played him but noticed he jumped a truckload of points in a short time.
Mostly because he joined a tournament here at RHP I'm in. It was a tournament for up to 1750 players. He was 16xx something when he joined and 2 months later still in the tournament with an almost 2000 rating.

^ of course it is, easily spotted. Nobody jump 400pts overnight.
They do not if he was 1300 for 12 months and 1000 games then suddenly rises unbeaten to 1800 over 100 games in 3 months and starts beating 2200 players.
Originally posted by clandarkfireI have had a brief look at this site and it has some good points like the ability to play different variants of chess and the ability to start your own tournments and I like the time options (eg 10 days plus 1 day per move) which mean if you use all your time bank up by moving quickly you can rebuild it.
somewhat off topic, but i joined http://www.schemingmind.com/ , and it seems to be a good site. It only has a few thousand players, but this gives it the advantage that you can get to know people better.
... but
(1) the interface is no where near as good as here;
(2) the forums are pretty dull compared to here;
(3) they seem to have a lot of strong players, perhaps because they do little to deter cheaters. In fact the "owner" seems to believe that there is not really a sure way to catch cheaters.

Interface is too slow
Low number of members - expect to wait a while for moves
Plus DFs point above
A real plus I found was the site identified the play you are playing, ie KID etc I'm not brilliant on the names of openings (I just remember how it lookes) so I found this a real plus point
