Ironman has agreed to an unrated Ironman v Rest of RHP game, similar to the RHP V Fritz game.

I'm just not sure whether I should start it now, cos it might be flooding the chess forum playing two of these types of games.

Any thoughts.

A problem with this is that he can read our discussion here.

But sure, why not?

Yeah, but in the spirit of the game, I'm sure he won't.

This idea occurred to me as soon as I saw the Fritz thread. I'd be very interested in participating, and it's very good of ironman to agree to take part.

Waiting until the other game had run its course is probably a good idea, though.

just curious, has anyone gotten an answer from Russ on using the vote feature for move selection?

Yeah,

I asked him about using the voting feature for the RHP v Fritz game, but he didn't want to support any type of computer use on the site at this time. Fair enough, considering the timing.

He hasn't replied to my request to use the voting feature for the Ironman v Rest of RHP game. I'm guessing he's taking it easy over the christmas.

Ok, in that case, how about using recs. ie: you make a separate post for each candidate and voters rec the move they like, most rec's wins.
Granted, you'll get about a million or so rec's this way, but maybe the mods could adjust the count.

I do understand where Russ is coming from though, I was up in the air on this concept as well because it condones engine use on the site. Frankly, I don't have a problem if Russ squashes the Fritz game, but will participate if it plays out. It really isn't cheating as it is a) posted, b) unrated, c) not individual....but it is still technically against the TOS, which need to be there for enforcement against cheaters. But enough of that...Let's have some fun with this idea!

The other game is just being voted on with posts, which I think would work quite well, especially if every voter kept track of how many votes each move had as they voted.

As for the TOS, this Fritz game isn't againt the TOS,
'(b) You will not use chess software, chess computers or consult any third party to assist you in any game (unless expressly agreed prior to any game). Chess books and databases can be consulted during play '

its just he doesn't want to in any way support computer use on the site, as at the moment he is taking measures to root out computer use on the site. I don't know if he has a problem with the actual existence of the game itself.

It seems to me that to use the recommendation for voteing it to abuse it.

The terms of service concerning program use is against them being used in rated games. So far the cow has not condemed their use in unrated games. P.S. His avator is a cow's head. I do not mean an insult.

You guys, why don't we use Russ's new site voting feature for this? If we can, of course..... Either way I like this idea, since I had a blast taking part in Kasparov vs. The World. This is almost the same thing, right? 😉

I'm guessing u haven't read the whole thread. Anyway, we're awaiting word from Russ as to whether we can use the voting feature for the game.

Yeah, this should be fun. If we get some higher rated players involved as well, it might be a good opportunity to see how those top players think when making a move. Should be a good learning experience.

Of course in this game we should give Ironman white to be fair. Makes it different from the Fritz game at least.
