It's too bad he didn't play out the games with Akizy, but if both players really put their energies to playing their best on CC, the result between them would almost always be a draw.

Weyerstrass's move 22 is very surprising at first glance. And the position after 26. Qxd5 is very interesting.
It's clear that Weyerstrass calculated to the present position on move 22, a full 9 moves prior to the current position.
A full nine moves is very few compared to the depth Akizy analyzes. If you look at the very few games (3?) he actually lost, in his game against Seadevil, he resigned seeing a potential checkmate about 15 moves ahead.
Very few players willing to put in the time necessary to analyze the board so thoroughly. But I guess that's why the good players are good.
