Why?
Someone who uses an engine could be said to be engineering.
Doesn't mean all career Engineers are chess engine users.
Are they not Engineering?
Engine usage is a better phrase.
If i'm using an engine to drive a turbine, i'm engineering?
If i'm operating a car, i'm engineering?
It is "engine" usage after all.

Nope, you're "driving".

You cannot really say an engine user is simply engine usaging or engine using, not without it sounding odd.
ie, TRACKHEAD was kicked out for engine usaging????
Just saying he was using or usaging sounds worse.
And "engineering" [to engineer] is a verb that is not used solely for Engineers.[site engineers or train drivers]
ps, sorry for the hijack, sonhouse, very interesting topic.

That makes complete sense does it not?
as oppose to, Trackhead was kicked out for "engineering."
An engineer practising is said to be engineering. Just as we call people practising medicine doctors.
See what I mean.
Now let us forget about this and never speak of it again.

OK.
As long as I can have the last word eh? 😕
I disagree with your use of the language.
The end. 🙂
Now your just testing me aren't you?
We Canadians have exclusive rights to the word eh?
since you are not canadian, I take offense to you using that word.
You don't want me to send my beaver after you, do you 🙂
He'll be pretty ticked off since he'll have to leave the igloo. You don't want to mess with a ticked off beaver. Trust me 🙂

Yes, engineering applies to engineers, but it is also applicable in the way I used it.
Pogo users= pogoing
Truck users= trucking
bike users= biking
engine users= engineering (technically it should be engining, but english has a lot of irregular endings)
so 'engineering' or 'engine usage' are both acceptable terms.
Now lets leave it at that...

Don't know how common it is, but I don't think it's common enough.
I did suggest a couple of ways of encouraging such help in "site ideas", thread name "comments".
Obviously it is up to every individual to decide if and when they want to give their time to help others/explain positions, etc. But it would be a great shame if we had truly excellent players willing to help those at a lower level and this resource was under-used.
I approached him after this game Game 904401, because I had lost faith in the fianchettoed position, because what I did to sonofsaul had happened to me a few times before, so I proposed a setpiece from the position as at move 12.
And this is how he showed me that the fianchetto was still good: Counterplay on the queen side. Game 925057, with explanations and his thoughts on his possibilities for each move.
I don't mind saying it now as he seems to have left and won't get flooded with hundreds of pms looking for instruction.

_____ got kicked off because of engineering.
and he wouldn't exactly know whats going on. Its very vague.
____ got kicked off for engine usage.
He would read that and get the idea that the person cheated.
k forget this now.

From time to time, I've taken on players who asked nicely for a learning game and explained my moves all through the game while also prompting my opponent. My analytical reasoning, though, is not in the same league as yours. Wouldn't it be nice if each one of the top 20 or so players took on a public game once a month against a sub-2000, while posting ongoing analysis for all to read? I'm sure we could all gain a lot from that experience.
Thank you "sonhouse" for your time. I appreciated the help also. It made me feel good to help.
