hi,the problem playing engines is u can't make even small tactical errors as
against humans.remember in kramnk-topalov recent 2nd match kramnik escaped mate in 5-6 moves and went on to win the match ,which seems impossible against engines.also engines have good database from previous master games,so kramnik should have prepared some surprising moves in opening to let engine make move on its own.Another point where engines r weak is the 'power of pased pawns' where pawn moves r very slow and engines r not normally too much deep.so if kramnik has to win,he has to take some sacrifice and risks like kasparov did against deep blue.kramnik is strategically strong than any human and hope he'll atleast draw the engine if he plays carefully
i think start with 1.Nf3 if kramnik is white.it will alow him to test the engine and transpose to a variation which he's good at.With black i think against d5 slav or semislav(kramnik is better in this than QGA),but i'd love to see him playing grunfeld,KID.KID is good against engines for a gamble(eg : a must win situation) becoz it can create unclear positions which engines r not as strong as they r in others. Also against e5 i believe it'll be sicilian or ruylopez.
Originally posted by MarinkatombTopalov is good at those positions, but let's face it, Fritz is going to be better. The only way I see a human winning a match like this is in a positional battle.
I'm not sure about this one. Personally i think Topalov would stand a better chance as he is so good in complicated tactical positions (which fritz will more than likely aim for). You can never rule Kramnik out though, he's proved his critics wrong so many times now...
I'd still be fairly surprised if Kramnik manages better than a draw though.
