Any one who is familiar with Friedrich Schiller, Virginia Woolf and Oliver Goldsmith and also play chess at 2000 plus level is certainly a most unusual individual.

Perhaps this is because you yourself confessed to being a liar and a cheat. By the way, you also confessed to being a troll and a fake

Who else has had enough of this endless spat between the devout Hinds and the Duchess who curiously addresses everyone in the third person? It seems likely to continue until the Day of Judgment. I wonder who will be deemed a sheep and who a goat?

Paul Leggett, you're off this thread's topic, surprisingly...

Can't you just ignore off topic posts instead of adding to it, if it bothers you so much. The more you feed us trolls, the more off topic it will become. 😏

P.S. It could be considered bad manners and on topic.

You're right of course- I digressed for a "skeeter-esque" moment, which is no excuse.

I admit that this is something I check, and it influences my decision if it's a league, tournament, or clan game.

That is an interesting question .... In a recent game here at RHP, when I was new at RHP, I was playing a player whose rating was equal to mine. As the game developed, I considered that he had a somewhat stronger position. Then without prior notice, he stopped sending moves and I had the right to to claim a win on time. I sent him two messages asking him whether he had any problem but he did not reply. Only after sending and receiving no reply to two notices, did I claim a win on time. I thought that he was simply dropping out of RHP or of chess in general. Some time later, he contacted me advising me that he had been on vacation but had neglected to inform those those with whom he had been playing of this. I then gave him a return match which resulted in a draw. We are now playing a third game.
So, my answer to your question is a personal one. Unless, I have a clear won position, I would not claim a win on time without first messaging my opponent and warning of his peril. As I said, this a a personal answer, and I would not consider it bad manners to claim a win on time without notifying an opponent as a general rule but it is something that I would not do.

Hi Aldan.

Well this thread has been all good clean fun. Thanks for that.

Now we are onto Skulls.

I try my best to play on here as I would OTB.
It's good OTB training, wish the net was on the go 40 years ago.

I would not say to my opponent after his flag has dropped in an OTB game.

"You flag has fallen, if you move within the next few minutes I'll pretend not to notice."

Come to think of it I might if I was halfway though a brilliant mating combo.
I'd pretend I had not seen it to get the mate on the board.
(and then try and claim two points from the TD.) 🙂

So I merrily click the skull.
I'm sure if I started thinking as to reasons why the lad has not moved then
I'd never take a skull.
