Before the world championship match between Veselin Topalov and Vladimir Kramnik in Elista both players signed an agreement that said the loser of that match would not play in the 2007 World Championship in Mexico. That was Topalov, whose federation is now pleading for him to be allowed to participate – as the ninth player in the event.

I want to show my support for Topalov. In case you want a real World Cup Let Topalov Play!

This reminds of when Kasparov split from FIDE and formed the PCA, and held a match with Short. Why do the chess players and federations let the obviously corrupt FIDE run the show?

Seems like Topalov agreed to these terms, because he was sure that he will win. Now when he did lost to Kramnik, he is trying to change rules which he had agreed before. Its the reason why I dont support Topalov.

I do agree with Korch though... Topalov agreed to the terms of the agreement, now wants to change it cause he lost.

Yes, bright pink, yellow, puprle, and green clash quite well together. But, his wanting fashion sense aside, the man is shifty. He signed the agreement, and he should be seen as less of a gentleman for trying to break it. I wish Gary would come back 🙁

Don't worry, vipiu, the slimy Danailov will probably grease the palm of the thoroughly corrupt Illyumzhinov, and Topalov will probably be a last minute addition. I'm sure Topalov is thankful that FIDE corruption will never die.

If I didn't have to follow the agreements I've signed - I would be rich by now.

Why did he have to sign it? What possible purpose does an agreement like that serve? The Championship of the World is designed to find the best player in the World. Why exclude the previous finalist? If he is the runner up in the World championship, HE IS THE SECOND BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD!! How DARE they exclude him!! 😠😠

Losing to Kramnik Topalov have already showed that he is not the best. Why must FIDE give him extra chance? Will it be honest to other participants?

Are you drunk or something? Which other sport has the president dipping into his own pocket to provide for the prize-fund i.e. in the candidates matches how much is coming from where? Compare that to boxing or football. Don't open your mouth to utter unsubstantiated nonsense.
