Some of the reasoning in the rules ( eg. not round-robin ) was to try and keep the game moving... otherwise interest is lost... so I'm not a big fan of waiting too long for the white captain to turn up.. given he's probably lying in a gutter somewhere after over-celebrating his cricket victory... I'm for just continuing with the game like GP and MC said.

On the other hand, we've not yet waited the 24-hour time limit, during which I expect your Captain will surely log on and apprise himself of the situation. FatLady has already said she would let the error pass with a reprimand (once). If you wish to proceed without knowing how your Captain would judge the matter, it won't be me accused of mutiny.
GP (for White) has already played another move in response to the disputed Black one, and if your Captain has any very strong objection to GP's having played on, I guess we could retro-actively roll back any number of moves.
Any objections to moving on?
Any objections to a reprimand? [Sing the "very sorry song" and all will be forgiven.]
No taking moves back! never take a move back in Chess. Never.
No illegal move has been made. Play on.
OK we have had one tube who moved for the wrong side and another
who forgot the 24hr limit. (stupid rule).
Coming out with all these new rules in what is very simple games is silly.
Numbered players who each get a turn is fine.
You lot would start an argument in an empty house.
Either that or you would draw up the rules for arguing in an empty house.
Edit;
"But given that iChess has played a move for the wrong side
AND broken the rules with another,"
Was it the same person?
There must be a computer permanetly logged onto Red Hot Pawn in some
nut house and iChess has found the password.

There's no percentage in changing the rules in the middle of a game. It might be worth trying out a few variations of the rules in future games to see what works best.
As for the player who moved twice, we promise not to ever, ever do it again. Let's keep going.

Edit: my server just registered a hit from the UK, OS=WinXp, Browser=Chrome 31.0 (I won't reveal your IP address, but the NSA probably knows already anyway). Somebody singing over there?
