Does anyone know if there is a similar thing to RHPawn for 6,7,8,9 year olds? My son has been watching me play and wants to play online too. He's not bad for his age , can do checkmate puzzles and understands stalemate and en passant. Is there a RHP for juniors/kids out there ?

Well, this isn't a correspondance chess site, but it is a good site for beginners, academicchess.com. They have computers that you can play that aren't too difficult. They also have fully annoted grandmasters games, and tons of puzzles.

Why not have him register on RHP? He may do better playing a few games on FICS however as that real time and not correspondence (it is free though).

Unfortunately you have to be 13 or over to register to RHP.

on the other hand... why not register him on RHP? correspondence is a good way to learn, with sufficient time to move through all the significant possibilities.

Age confirmation: I confirm that I am over the age of 13

Right there on the registration form. If you don't confirm that then you can't register for this site.

dude just let him use ur account. ask him whats the best move, and if he gets it wrong tell him why. or you can register him an account and they'll be no difference. i was on msn chat before it went down when i was 11 when your meant to be 13. its not like its going to kill anyone.

the 13-limit is there probably to prohibit kids under that playing without their parent's knowledge. maybe you could work out some kind of a special arrangement with the site?

Would say that multiple users using the same account is equivalent to one user having multiple accounts. Not sure what Russ would have to say about that. Would mean that every game that his son is involved in playing would have to be unrated and explicitly mentioned to other players.

There have been games in the past where lots of players are playing against very strong players (e.g. a public game against IronMan), or against an engine (e.g. IronMan allegedly 😵 ) . These games have been made publicly known that an engine has been involved (which, of course, has to be unrated).

my young lad (age 7) occasionally plays on www.yahooligans.com - much the same as yahoo but no chatting between players.

knightmeister -
I will be glad to play with your son.
Rated or unrated, I dont care, you decide.
I'm prety good at 'training games' so I think you son will enjoy the game :-).

But knightmeister, dont you think that a 'move a day' pace (or slower) is too slow for his age? he needs Action!!.
I think he should try online real-time sites (with you to guide him and watch over him of course).

just my 2c.

Lying on your registration is reason for your account to be banned. It's happened before. The 13 year old age limit isn't there just for kicks there are laws Russ must ensure he follows.
