I think Black is utterly crushed here. Most of his pieces are Qside, and absolutely no help.

I think Kg8

wrong

So 19. ... Kg7 is better when if 20. Qe7+ (20. Qe5+ is of course also playable) .. Kh6, 21. Q ...[text shortened]... the Q and must have excellent winning chances
.

So black must play on hoping for 21. Rf6??
Rxg6 is check, so Nxe7 is not possible?

True, but after 22. hXR black has 2R and B for his Q and white has nothing further to throw into the attack.

White needs to mate or make decisive material gains or else will end up having to resort to taking a draw by perpetual in all these lines.

As DragonFire explained, I think 19. Qe7 wins.

19. Qe7 Qg7 20. Qe8+ Qf8 21. Qxf8#

19. Qe7 Qe8 20. Qxe8+ Kg7 21. Qf7+ Kh6 22. Qf6+ Kh5 23. Rf5+ Kg4 24. Qg5#

And as far as I can see, any other legal moves either flat out give the queen away (and thus simply postpone the checkmate), or completely ignore the threat of checkmate altogether.

19. Qe7 and mate will soon follow.

Its been useful but not particularly difficult trying to analyse this game. Has made me think that investing a little time in a Muzio and playing it OTB might just get some good results for me.

Qe7

I think the game is now done, as I see Kg8 was a bad move. But the game was fun, hopefully another one will start.

Moving the queen to e8 or the f-file seems to be the only thing to postpone mate...but then the queen is lost and mate will soon follow anyway..I say the correct move is to resign.

As far as I can see, Qe8 is the only hope now (and a futile one, at that). resign, for goodness' sake!

Qe8
Qxe8+ Kg7
Rf7+ Kh6

and Black is obviously lost. As in crushed.
