    Well I'd be very happy with 1...d6 as the Pirc is my response to 1.e4 ...also btw I'm more than happy to play through the first few moves.

    I was just trying to be a bit patriotic. Anyway, I think it'll be 1. ... e5 but I'm almost sure it won't be Latvian gambit.

    Well my prediction is 1.. .c5 since it's so common. Can we assume that this is a game between two masters? I see little point in this exercise if it's between a couple of patzers.

    That game hardly shows best (or even particularly good) play on black's part. Rarely is handing out free pawns at move 8 a good idea.

    "Passive" is hardly the right word for the french. I rather like the french defense, and I prefer to think of it as patient.

    But I'd rather not argue.
