19. Kd2 then 19...d5! looks good, since 20. g5 Nh5 21. exd5 Nf4 threatens threatens ...Nxd5, and gives Black good play.

19...Bxg4 is also certainly a possibility. Maybe if your plan is Kd2, then g5 should be played first. This also prevents the ...Be8 and ...Nd7 plan.

19.g5 does look pretty good there.

Next time, the group can just get together and study an opening variation. We haven't even needed an opponent yet. hehe 🙂

18.Kc1 (was my suggestion ... and could more than likely not be best)

The general idea was not to simply move in the corner and give black a fixed target. White may slowly take over the b file with the two rooks and get active. I don't see anything all that great for black either.

I see why this position is judged unclear from the beginning of the exchange sac. You really just have to play a lot of games and see how they turn out. 🙂
