It may be fun, I think, to have RHP Titles (Master and such) for certain ratings achieved. What do you guys think?

I think that people worry about their rating too much as it is, and this would just make it even more of an issue for some people...

Skip the rating thing. The Master, Champ, Wizard is a good idea.

Make a tournament in order to declare a RHP Champ etc, and let him/her keep this title until the next tournament. Three consecutive tournament wins make him/her keep the title permanently.

It has a certain glamour to the titles.

Skip the ratings, even I could be a Champ (*wish, wish, wish*)

if you wanted to give away titles make them worthwhile.

titles for ratings i don't like the idea of -- I think it might even encourage cheating {and/or accusations of such}, and bad habbits like allways timing out...

I.e give away titles for teaching, sportmanship, and the like

so - for example you could earn a particular title for getting 300 recs in the forum, or taking your time to teach weaker players for no benifit of your own.....or for not timing your oppenant out when you're in a compeltly lost position

....you get the idea...

Teaching for no benefit of your own... I believe that this is called altruism and has been declared impossible.

Thats not really the point here, I would just like some more thoughts, I know most of us would never be that high, myself included, so maybe we could think of some stipulations.

and people think there are Rec-whores now...

as for teaching... why and how would you manage it?

Ratings and/or tournament victories are the only way to do this.

^^they where suggestions - i didn't put much thought into the implementation....

But At FICS they have a "teaching ladder" - people submit their games, wait a week and then get a rather heavily anotated game of thiers back (always anotated by a much higher rated player)

whats more, before evaluation, players are asked to anotate it themselves with thier thoughts and idea's so the commentator doesn't over-simplify, or over-complicate his/her explanations...

I'm sure RHP could create something similiar....if it wanted too, and there was a demand for it......
