Computer Chess programs made chess huge to the outside world, but also wrecked chess ->cheaters, accusations everything.

In some ways I say Chess programs wrecked chess. Aside from convience and popularity, Chess would have been better off without computers probably-> no cheating, Fide and their Toilet stuff.
I wanted to add the man vs machine matches also.

At first they were entertaining but now they are just down right dirty.

Machines are ruling now.

You gotta admire the old school chess folk. Research work horses like Botvinnik truly put more effort into studying games than any of today's computer assisted players.

i admire the greats from the 1920's to the late 1940's...
Alekhine....Reti...Nimzovwitch...etc etc...
They are now the Gods....

And no...no current players are allowed to become "new Gods"

It just sounds like you're bitter, you always think the grass is greener on the other side. Computers havent ruined chess, you have a choice, use them in study or dont, its that simple. I know it can be semi annoying when 1400s are knocking off "their" assisted guesses to the next GM move when you're watching a game but hey thats their loss, they wont end up improving much by just reading notation off an engine panel.

you are right, computers will destroy chess eventually but then we will move on to a better game and the human race will be better for it
