how much does an annual licence (to play in rated tournaments, league games etc.) cost in the States?

60 bucks american gets you a uscf ID....but alot of clubs make you pay for membership to play in there weekly tournaments....

If you don't want to pay for a club membership....your USCF ID will get you into major tournaments....but usually they only have them once or twice a year per city.

around here the tournaments i go to are over $100....well worth it...since i place 15th!!...😠

50 or less......yes i know....pathetic...but i've always played "formation" chess....(basically i play the same moves regardless of my opponents opening ....example...the hippopotamus....or queens fianchetto and go for square strategy etc etc....but i gotta stop that and play real openings....after that i figure i'll be 1500 otb!

My best in a tournament is 3/5.

me too 3/5....funny thing is that at the end i checked the results and the people who beat me in the 2 games were alot lower than me at the end...i was 15th they were 20th and 28 or so....

i've been told that in order to win a class you need to be 400 points stronger than the category you are playing in....(because of sandbaggers)

Wouldn't that make you sandbagger as well.
