Judit Polgar's game is about to get very exciting!

My prediction is 26....Rxg2+. But I could be wrong. It happened once before.

And Judit Polgar wins again! I'd forgotten what a great tactician she was until this tournament.

Did you see the end of Topov vs Mamedyarov? Just as I though Topov was going to resign, Mamedyarov did instead! It took me three minutes to work out why!

Here's the final position:

I thought Ng7+ was winning for Black.

1...Ng7+ 2.Qxg7+ Kxg7 3.Bh6+

yea, I thought too he was in trouble or at least perpetual check when mamedyarov penetrated with queen and started checking...

This is coming from a newer person to chess so please check me for accuracy. If black played Qf5+ what would happen if white responded with Bg5? Ng7+, Kh6, Qe6+, Bf6, Nf5+? Would that have been a possible outcome?

Ng7 is the right move for black but Why didnt white play 50. Bf4 as that could save the queen.

Hi Khan - Have you noticed that Black resigned after 50.Kh5, not White?

Have a go at working out why Black didn't bother playing 50...Ng7+, it's worth the effort!

Ng7 would be a terrible mistake, but do you think about my alternative?

After 50...Kf5+ White simply plays 51.Kh6. The checks have run out and White is a rook up.

I will second this suggestion. It took me a minute. I am still looking at other possible moves for black but Ng7+ is bad.
