not fully true but still, not far...it took me about 1 year to reach 1800+ (I think I am still underrated)...preatty difficult to get strong opponents(and not underrated-that means with at least 150 games by now)

5 more points in Game 3765996 so now only 13 left.

I'm slowly catching you guys up.

Its a pity you and Smaug chickened out of accepting my very generous 3/7 games. Isn't that selective pairing if you only want to pick on the 1500s? Or do you call that natural selection?

I have two spare slots and when I PM'ed you and DragonFire I had 6 available slots. The two slots are available in the Open Invites room. If I recall, you boasted that you could win against me even with 200 games in progress.

What is your problem? You feel you don't get an equal chance to prove you're an experienced chess player? Get over it, there is no equality between subs and non subs. If you don't like that, nobody is forcing you to stay. If you do, consider subscribing and enter banded tournaments, no '1500s' there...

In unbanded tournaments you meet '1500s', there is no avoiding it. And yes, there is always a chance you will lose, making mistakes. Everybody here has lost against such players on occassion. You may call it natural selection, I call it random selection, that's the way things work here at RHP.

As I explained to you, due to game load I am only playing in tournament and clan league games at present.

I do not accept open invites nor challenges from non subscribers.

Is that because you are a member of an extremist subs group or because this particular non-sub happens to be over 1500? I should find the game where you were two moves away from being mated by an 1100 and then perhaps the situation will become clearer. Perhaps there should be a clan called tails between legs clan or something? Hehe hehe

No! It is because I prefer to devote my limited energy to league and tournament games. I accept clan challenges but not individual challanges or open invites from anyone as I don't have time for them.

Its in the nature of tournaments that you will get games in the earlier rounds against weaker opponents (this happens in OTB tournaments also) and I am not playing loads of 1500s because I select them but rather because they have entered the same tournaments as me.

and as mentioned previously if I play 30 games against a 1500 the chances are I will lose 1 of them losing all my "hard won" rating points. This happens for a number of reasons (1) 1500s raise their game against me just as I do against a 2300 player and (2) thinking I have an "easy" win I get careless. There are no such things as easy wins.

I cannot recollect losing to a 1100 player or ever being 2 moves away from being mated (I should be able to give a Q odds against such a player and still win in theory) but I have lost and drawn plenty of games against 1500 - 1600 players. For the record here is one such example - not over yet but I am a whole Knight down with no compensation in Game 3583720. I should resign and against a 2000 player I would. Why I got so careless as to make such an elementary blunder I don't know, maybe I was tired, drunk, or simply over confident - what ever the reason it happened (and will happen again) and I am likely to lose 30 of those rating points.

Edit: Here is a game against a player rated 1300 that I could yet lose, Game 3209015.

what do you think ? is it better to play many chess games instead of reading a chess book ?
