What a game! Instead of playing quiet, positional opening with black pieces, Gelfand played Grunfeld again and almost lost the game.
I hope to use one of this 😀 😵 🙄 smilies tomorrow
Nigel short joked that it was a prerequisite to gaining an Israeli passport than one plays
the Grunefeld, when asked about entry to the UK, he quipped that it must be the
Grand Prix attack 🙂

not an exciting game start until now...so let us expect the worse and get the best!

maybe they should make it longer match and the Champion(or even Challenger) to get the title in case of equal match..in this case there will be in every game one player that must win in order not to loose the match...unlike now when they both look happy with the draws...

I wonder how you guys watch these games.Do you just sit in front of the screen waiting for the next move?

There are only two problems with this WC match.

1. The rock-paper-scissors candidates process, which was created to ensure "exciting chess."

2. The fact that it's not Aronian v. Carlsen.

Agreed. I also think Carlsen/Anand would have been a great matchup.

I watch it after. So I can skip the adds. Problem with watching it live is that after an hour or so I start to question what am I doing with my life. Chess is just not a spectator sport. Better to look at the game later. Chessnetwork on youtube has a good 10 min replay of the games.

We have already a good way to get a title matchup. Its called the ratings system. Top 2 should fight it out to be champion.

I don't think having Frankie Boyle as an arbiter is a good idea.

What are the sites? I'm only watching the one with Timman. Before I watched these things on chessfm but I'm no longer a member of ICC so I'm a bit lost.
