What is the main line of this, I played it the other night against quite a strong player at my chess club but didn't really know what I was doing and eventually lost the game. So after 1e4e5 2Nf3Nc6 3Bc4Nf6 4Ng5Bc5 5Nxf7Bxf2 what should I have done or do in the future?

Were you white or black? If white, you should have played 5.Bxf7+. There's lots on that in the previous thread.

I played black and i think my opponent took the bishop after ...Bxf2...

You could ask Ih8sens, he plays it alot and is the main proponent of it on this place. And white taking the bishop on f2 is generally bad for white.

gotta give northern lad some credit though.. he proposed a line in the Traxler Blows thread that is at least equalizing. At the moment it seems to give white about a half pawn advantage but i'm still messing with the line... figure i'll be able to find an equalizing line.

ooops lol meant Nxh1 was best there...

10. Qe2, b5!? (my preference. d6 works too)
11. Bf7+, Ke7
12. Kxh1 (Nc3 is less greedy.), Bb7
13. Bd5, Rxh8
14. d3, Rf8
15. Nc3, b4

9. ... d5 is also good for black... though relatively unclear.

... that's a whole different game.

but yah.. pretty solid for white but you gotta remember that this is still pretty well drawing at worst for black.. and pretty darn hard to stay in a safe zone for white.
