Just when I get a few games with him, gone. What happened?

I would also like to know, I had 4 games vs. him.

He seems a genuine type, so I doubt it was unfair play.

From his posts on chess I could tell he was a quite knowledgeable and good player. My guess is that he got slashed over forum posting issues. He was a bit of a free speaker; sometimes posted pr0n pix and such. Probably he posted one too many controversial things.

He was a good fair player. My score was 1 win v 8 losses and a few draws
in fast hard core games, good attacking errors all over the place games.

Think he had run in with Russ and TOS regarding content in a post that was pulled.
Instead of taking a posting ban for a week or two typically vanders would have argued
his case and over stepped the mark.

I'll miss him. Never a dull post and certainly never a dull game.

Vandervelve is my favorite RHP forum writer. I agree he is a good chess player, and his forum style was kind of original and 'acid'. He said he was trying to 'touch', Bobby Fischer's personal objects to got some chess inspiration.

I would like to read his opinion about the incident, ('is gonna hurt' someone)

He has Very interesting ideas and he liked the 'Pekinska Patka' a local rock band, those guys were very controversial as well. So now I think I would like to touch some of Vandervelve's personal objects to catch some of his mystical inspiration.

I think, forum moderators and owners (here and elsewhere) finally ban good and nice collaborators.

That's the reason I don't like to post too much in Internet forums,

Sorry to see him go. He was certainly a stronger player than I, but always a challenge to play against and I appreciated his prompt play.

Shame. His slightly kooky tournament reports were fun to read and very real. He was around 1850 Fide rated, fun to play on here and polite in all his in game communications - at least to me. If you blundered blitzing against him he would often contrive to gift the other game back!

I always enjoyed reading his posts. An educated man.

I have had a private email from him. He was not banned for engine cheating.
