mnelson made a point, a fair point... if you bothered to read his post properly you would appreciate his point, give him some respect like others to you and learn to accept a difference of opinion
I feel "somewhat satisfied" because mnelson called the repetitive position rule "crap", and I'm glad that there is an overwhelming consensus that the rule as it stands is logical. Maybe I was put off my mnelson's whiny tone. And it has nothing to do with "boosting my ego." You'll note that in my previous thread I freely acknowledged that there is no "right" or "wrong" opinion here.

All the other pieces, except pawns can cover at least as many squares and get around the board far quicker and pawns can become queens so that really makes the king rather feeble.[/b]
I've read several times that the King is the most powerful piece because it is the only one that can't be taken. It is also the center of the game. How much it moves has nothing to do with it.

The king is obviously the most IMPORTANT piece, but that isn't necessarily the same thing as being the most POWERFUL piece.

In Stratego (R), the objective of the game is to capture your opponent's flag, obviously making it the most important piece. But in the game, the flag can't move it all, so it has NO power whatsoever.

Some chess books that I have seen say that the "power" of the king is equivelant to about 2 1/2 pawns, making it generally slightly weaker than a knight or bishop.

What's funny is that people that have posted to this thread 3 and 4 times as often as I have accuse ME of be "whiny".

All of you that feel threatened because I don't like the rule: consider backing away from your computer and dating. It may loosen you up a bit.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year!

Maybe people who are posting to this thread are doing it to take the mikey, only becuse they think your suggestion is so completely ridiculous.

In some games (or sports) if I find a certain rule stupid I have to chose from these alternatives:
(1) Complain about it, but live with it.
(2) Try to change the rule, often totally futile.
(3) Leave the game and never return to it.

I usually stick with (1). In some cases, like monopoly within family we agree on a rule change, so (2) might work in smaller circumstances but FIDE is a very mighty organization. I have tried (3) and taken the consequences of it where I find rules quite unfair or making the game boring.

You go for (2) and that's fine with me. But when we meet each other in a game, at RHP or elsewhere, the FIDE rules stand or we will not have a game.

You have your right to have your opinion, even if you are in a minority, I don't argue against that, but I am surprise your energy to explain to people why you're right and everyone else is wrong. I too have an opinion about certain things and everyone else think the opposite, why bother? People will find out what's right eventually - or not. That's life. I don't have to date to come into this conclusion.

I don't think "the repetitive move type draw is CRAP", I think it would render a straight draw. I find it a part of the game where inferior players still got a chance to win at least a half of a point. I stand behind of the FIDE rules.

But nevertheless - I too want to wish you and everyone else here at RHP and elsewhere a very Merry Christmas and a future in peace throughout the world in the year(s) to come!

Finally someone gets it! Not completely accurate, but you get it none the less.

You see, I not in #2, according to your scale. I am clearly in #1, as there is indeed nothing anyone can do about it. I apologize for the defeatist attitude, but that's how it is.

After making my initial lighthearted post, what immediately became interesting for me is the (over)reaction the community had. Some responded with hysteria. I suppose that's what led to my "energy to explain" -- the new round of idiots I got fired up every time I posted. 😀

Arguing on the internet is like the participating in the Special Olympics... even if you win, you're still retarded.

Oh, come on. The first replies to your original post in this thread were completely level-minded, but you continued to poke and bait by posting flames. You attempt to explain it as if the effect preceded the cause.

I would like to introduce your long lost blood brother. Your kindred spirit, if you will.
