Whats better in material-wise?

Whats better:
2 Rooks or a single Queen
2 Knights or 2 Bishop
8 Pawns or a Knight/Bishop and a Rook

This is not a trick, but some GMs and IMs say that X is better than Y and Y is better than X which does confuse people like me so the better public, which is you people, can tell me? The above shows
