1. Ne8 is to be considered, but it leads to forced mate in 4 moves (not 3).
(If 1. ... Rd7 then 2. g6)

I'll keep trying.

Na5

followed by Nf3 regardless of blacks move

one of 2 mates to follow depending on which one black tries to defend

only had a quick glance so maybe i'm missing something
I think i have blacks replies covered with these moves

Before posting solutions, try looking at bigdogg's post on page 3, near the top.

Black's Rook doesn't dare leave the 8th rank, or 2.Rh8+ mates.

Are you claiming that a tiresome little mate-in-3 has defeated BigDogg? 🙄

I am merely surprised that he didn't claim the three White rooks are provably illegal. 😵
I did immediately notice the three white Rooks and the three white Knights (!), but of course, White could easily have promoted them.

However, I bet the idea of this problem can be shown with a lot less pieces on the board.

Ah, I was still stuck on the mate in exactly 3 *hits head*

Why not 1. Ne1 (threatening mate at g2) 1... Rd2 defending mate. 2. Nf3 (mate threats at g1 and h2) 2... R moves (blocking one of the mates) and 3. Qg1# or !. Qh2#?

A lot less? Well, I don't think the b3 bishop serves any purpose. Any others?
