    R-type is great and really should have been accepted by the community at large if it hasn't been already!

    and though it's relatively obscure, i still think M-audio is a solid answer. almost anyone who has done digital music has heard of it, and it's a multinational brand: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-audio

    ... but i understand not letting that one past if the majority consensus is it's not strong enough. 🙂

    lol @ what is zee score man? haha ... for any interested, that answers.com definition isn't a fantastic description of what a z-score is. more accurately, it measures how many standard deviations a particular piece of data in a sample is away from the mean of that sample. in essence it is a standardized measurement of the "rarity" of a particular subject's score in relation to the normal distribution of all the scores of a population.

    incidentally, i also am a math grad, but never had to take statistics so i had never heard of this term either until i recently helped tutor a math-challenged friend in stats!
