One might think, yeah, so what, but it is actually quite dangerous. A layer of frozen rock and soil under the surface has kept the Alps in place since the last ice age, but when this 'perma-frost' layer melts, as it is doing now, the mountains become unstable and avalanches are the result. An avalanche can take out an entire village in the valley below in a matter of minutes; there is no time to evacuate, once one starts down the mountain.

Yep, and it might already be too late. Besides avalanches, there is the ocean level rise from all that melting ice, like if all the ice in Greenland melted they say the ocean level would go up some 40 feet all over the planet. Goodbye MY old home town of Venice Beach and Santa Monica, goodbye most of Florida, Manhattan mostly under water and the like around the planet.

Suppose all the ice in Greenland melts, where do you think new ice will come from? It stays melted because the whole planet is hotter and that is NOT just weather, it is due to mankind burning fossil fuels raising the world levels of CO2 and when the ice goes, so does the tundra and millions of tons of methane goes into the atmosphere as well so there would be hundreds of years of oppressive heat till at least the methane has been converted to harmless gasses.
When it gets bad enough there WILL be a reckoning, when mankind starts starving because they can't grow crops as well there will be less fossil fuel burned because there will be way less humans due to starvation and inevitable resource wars. Probably nuclear as well.

Yes, and the atlantic current easing winter days in Europe and America is already 30% weaker and may stop altogether.
There are measurements of melting ice in Alaska and they say it now amounts to 50,000 gallons per SECOND of melting ice.
I went to Anchorage HS when I was 15 and one field trip we took was to the Portage glacier, a wonder of the world, so massive, but now it is already half gone.
I guess a huge climate change will starve billions of people and thus ending the reason for the change in the first place so it sounds like it will be self correcting.

This is not just 'weather' this is due to humans burning fossil fuels for hundreds of years, and all that burning adds up and we see the result now.
You really think bush fires like the one in Canada that burned an area bigger than my state of Pennsylvania, which is about 300 miles wide and 200 odd miles deep, and we felt that right here by the smoke of the massive fire, made so much worse by the high tempratures and high winds and lightning which started the fires in the first place, I say fires because that is exactly what that was, lightning in several spots started several fires almost at the same time, impossible to stop.

What was clearly emant is: The melt velocity (the amount of ice between a full cycle of freezing and melting over the season is accelerating.
As is the temperature rise (globaly mean, not in some handpicked locations).
