redhotpawn gets blocked for sex and chessatwork as a game. I tried arguing that it wasn't a game but a lifestyle choice and as such they should respect my diversity, but they were having none of it.

chess is an exercise or study into time, space, force and matter. that it happens to be a pleasurable game to some seems to be the problem. what if we all promised not to enjoy it?

Are you fortunate enough to have your monitor screen pointed at a wall? I do not dare playing chess myself, since my screen is pointed at almost everyone at my department. I just barely dare to check my private email every now and then, and have a quick glance at two forums. This only takes me a few seconds (I hardly get emails... sigh) and is barely noticable for others, let alone they might make a problem out of it.
