I agree ... how do we make it happen?

Personally, I think that it is the job of the Leader to ascertain whether a challenge is either 'proper' or 'naughty'.
I prefer the idea of a 'clever' leader being able to promote his clan better than a leader who simply clicks accept or decline. Think about it.
I agree with this idea

Yes it would be less time-consuming and generally the automatically calculated average score will be more accurate (though not always).

Clanleaders who are 'clever' or 'naughty' or simply 'not lazy' will lose their advantage over the less clever, lazy or simply honest clan leaders.

Good idea, as an alternative the tournament entry rating could be shown in brackets next to the current rating. It would save the hassle to check out each individual.

How did you send this message to every clan leader? Manually? Must have been an extensive task :-)

That's the first think I look for so sure, I'd like it to be present immediately

I think it would be helpful to see the current rating and the tournament rating when setting up clan challenges or accepting clan challenges.

I like the idea of having both figures displayed.

Good idea!
I am a good and a bad exemple about rating

My current rating is very low compare of my average one. Sothing like from 1300 to 1780... and i think my real rating is more 1500 may be 1600 when i am concentrate...

Ok, let say that there is no good methode to see if the rating is the good one or no and if this 1500 is equal to this other 1500..

but, as some of you said it, it is time consumer to see the historic of every body so... let's say it is a good idea to win time!

By the way, please keep the possibilitie to decide a 2000 may be chalenge by a 1500 or less if both aggree on that. Chalenge is, sometime, more friendly than a tournament, and some gentle people give good advice and comment on move wich are so appreciate by us, poor puch wood man! have fun with chess!

The more challenges I try to set up, the more I feel that we should get rid of any rating showing..

Reason for this, is that there are too many challenges bounced because some leaders ONLY look at that average rating at the bottom, not even knowing whether they are bouncing a fair challenge, or setting up a fair challenge..
When you bounce a challenge and make it fair, it's being bounced because of the same thing.. annoying!

Initially I agreed with the opening poster's idea, but having thought about it more and more, I am inclined towards English Tal.

It does encourage laziness amongst clan leaders, but there are also situations where it wouldn't actually work. The average rating is based on the average between the current rating and the highest rating over the past 100 days. Say, for example, someone with a rating of 2000+ leaves the site for a couple of months (having lots of time outs). Drops to below 1000, comes back and has a gradual increase again. By the time a clan challenge comes along, this player may have a rating of 1200. The average rating showing at that point could be anywhere between 1200 and 2000+. In this situation, the average rating will give no better indication of past history as the current rating.

Therefore, the only way the clan leader can get a true feel of how good the player is, is by looking at their past history graph. Think I agree that it would be better that no rating is shown at all, and force the clan leader to look at each player.

Right now, the current ratings of players are used to set up challenges..
Many Clan Leaders look purely at this: bouncing challences when they feel that the average rating of the other clan is not matching their own, without looking at past performance of the individuals..

For tournaments there was already an adjustment in calculating the tournament e ...[text shortened]... ch is far from their true average level of play..

Look forward to your feedback on this one!
Excellent suggestion, rec'd!
