Currently - if you are in a clan and your sub expires, you can keep playing your clan games. The clan leader can't give you more games. If you are the clan leader the clan cannot create new challenges. But you can be a non-sub and play clan games.
This Site Idea is to allow that privilege to every member of the site. For one year.
If you are here already, you can join a clan whether you are a sub or not. If you are not a member however - that only lasts a year. After a year, you can finish your games, but no more challenges. Unless you join.
New players creating an account - non-subs can play clan games for up to a year after joining. On their anniversary date - no more new games until they join.
@Bish saidIt is an interesting idea. (3 months would be my preference)

Something to get non-subs more involved in other features is probably required in the near future. Which then may them more inclined to support the site. It's hard to know for sure, so a trial of such a scheme might not be a bad idea.
I didn't thumb the post down, the issues with this however is that non subs are restricted to 12 games. No competitive clan is going to want a lot of non subs in their team, also if Russ just allows non subs to join clans maybe some subs would be annoyed they're paying for 'the privilege' of being in a clan.
I guess some might want more than 12 games after being in a clan for a while and then subscribe. Russ from time to time does an offer for non-subs to subscribe. In fact the one I'm on now was 30% off or something. So already there's incentives for people to subscribe. Same for black Friday he always does a discount. Remember receiving a mass PM about it.
@The-only-Mr-T saidWhen you have people who have played here for 20 years and have chosen not to subscribe (as they are fully entitled), even with flash-sale subscriptions*, it does make you question what you could possibly do to encourage them more. I honestly don't know!

@The-only-Mr-T saidBefore any potential dramatic changes, I'll run a consultation poll.

@Russ saidWhen it was 6 games for non-subs I used to subscribe to play more but when it went up to 12 I was quite happy with the amount. Maybe it's a little too high. Not sure how many new people are signing up and staying but I imagine the long term non-subs are just happy with what they've got. Also some are in countries where $40 is a lot and probably can't afford it. Netflix and Spotify have different prices depending on where you are in the world, probably something that's hard to implement though.

@Russ saidLong term non-subscribers aren't really a viable target. Much better I think to incentivise the newcomers who are probably more pliable and open to bedazzlement.

Game load, tournaments and clans are your best assets when it comes to incentivising subscription. There is definitely room for improvement in the last two of these. (Appealing to 'support the site' won't work with this target group, as loyalty has not yet been established).
@The-only-Mr-T saidHell, I was going to go for 3 months free!!! 😉 If new people are going to be given incentives to join then us longer term should be given incentives to stay!!!
I was going to ask for 50% off my next sub 😆

@The-only-Mr-T saidYou must think Michael is made of money! I guess I will not be getting my 3 months free for my longer term Paying Subscription either!.....This day is starting out just great. We woke up to snow on the ground and no water.

One good thing I go out and got my Extra Large cup of Coffee, so get back to me in about a half hour or so and I will be more civil. 😉

@my-king-and-i removed their quoted postA clan rating is the only way to prevent the reigning of casual games to matter. The other is a bit harder, only way I can see is if every clan game is worth a point with maybe 3 bonus points for the overall win. With more bonus points the higher the challenge perhaps.
