I think Forum moderators should have term limits.

Good idea..

Or some fixed with a few rotation spots..

Sounds like a good idea.

Whether or not you believe moderators are acting unfairly, this would help remove this particular burden

Works both ways

If you don't like a particular forum moderator or how he operates, your best option is to send feedback.

Good luck with that. 😀

Why?

They are not elected public officials; they are not paid; they have nothing to gain from their positions.

Either they mod badly or well; that is all that matters.

I wonder if you think cashiers at your local charity shop should "serve" fixed terms, too, to stop them getting drunk on power...

I believe his proposal is that their term be limited to the first time that they acted in a way that Red Night didn't approve of.

Money or lack of has nothing to do with the reasons for asking for term limits. Under the current moderation crew the reasons can't be given publicly, so don't ask why. It might also be reasonable to ask that moderators be elected. I am sure Red Night or I would never be eligible, so you guys can stop shaking in your boots in total fear. I am sure you will all still be safe.

The people asked to be moderators are deemed by the PTB to be the most suitable for the job at that time - why would they SUDDENLY become unsuitable after a fixed term.

I have my theories about the reasons for this lame idea.

edit:
If Red Night ever became a mod here, expect a mass exodus from the forums.

edit 2:
Did anyone NOT in a RN affiliated clan rec this?
Didn't think so!

What does Red Night have to do with my ideas. Nothing.

Why do you have such a fear of Red Night anyway? It seems pretty unhealthy if you ask me. I don't see anyone leaving in panic. If you wouldn't have the guts to stay then don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I've stayed and endured why couldn't you do the same?

What did Edgar Bergen have to do with Charlie McCarthy's "ideas"?
