I returned from two weeks holidays last week with my vacation running out Sunday 15 April (GMT +10). I had set my vacation for 18 days.

I moved on the Monday but last night Thursday 19 April all my games showed I ould be potentially timed out, despite moving 3/4 days earlier. My games are 3 days + 7 days timebank. Surely, I would only be into my timebank?

I can only think that having moved on the Monday, the computer erased/thought I had moved 10 days within my 18 days vacation. Once my opponents moved it automatically thought I was 8 days into my next move, hence fours days later I'm in red territory. There was only one game where I was not in time-out territory; the one game where my opponent hadn't moved.

Weird. Having moved last Monday, with 10 days up my sleeve, I could have hit the board this weekend (5-7 days later) and been timed out in all my games.

I'm quite frustrated with this site and had this occurred it would have been the final straw.

Anyone else experience this recently?

As far as I've understood it: your timebank was completely used up during your vacation, but the vacation flag protected you from being timed out.

You now need to complete these games without any timebank in reserve, which means you must move within three days or risk being timed out by your opponent.

That is my understanding too.
The new vacation system provides immunity from timeout, but does not protect any of your timebank, which continues to tick down. That is why it is a good idea to allow yourself time to move in all of your games before you drop your vacaton flag.

Yup. Another reason why Thread 38806 is a better solution than the current vacation system.

There was a flag you could put up to say you were on vacation. Your opponent could choose whether to time you out or not.

You must be joking. A vacation system that only works for one group of players is ridiculous. 😠 Huh!!!

Is it better than a vacation system that didn't work for anybody?

No it isn't better - it gives an unfair game advantage to anyone who pays up.

At least with the old non-system it was a level playing field.

I'm not stupid enough to subscribe JUST to get equal vacation options.
Thanks for the suggestion. 😞
