Yes, and I promise you even if you disengage they will continue because it isn't topics that matter they only really desire to go after people.
If this is a reference to me, then you are flat out lying, KellyJay. In response to ideas, opinions, and perspectives on a range of topics that you have posted on this public forum in 2023, I have posted literally hundreds of completely on-topic and focused observations, rebuttals, and questions. All have been met with silence ever since your meltdown towards the end of 2022. So, if your claim that "it isn't topics that matter [he] only really desires to go after people" is aimed at me, then you are a liar. Having said that, your inability/ unwillingness to enter into discourse IS part of the discourse.

when the topic becomes the person

Well, the topic IS "the person": Jordan Peterson. It's in the thread title. I see him as, for the most part, a charlatan and grifter.
That's not what I meant.

When the topic is about a person, then discussing something about the person is fine by me, but I was referring to how often, in this forum, the discussion drifts from the topic to the person expressing their opinions and beliefs about the topic matter, and devolves into personal criticisms.

But I agree with your assessment of Peterson.

This is more than a bit rich coming from you, of all people, a poster whose go-to "debating points" for years have been to accuse people you disagree with of suffering from mental illness and intellectual impairment ad nauseam.
There you go.

Thanks for making my point.

Constantly poking at the person, and deflecting from the topic.

Topics are not important to them, they are just a means they use to enter into a conversation to drag someone down that disagrees with them. Many times the topic isn't even addressed, they jump in just to disparage others without a pretense of entering into a topical conversation.

Obviously we're just country bumpkins.
In their estimation there's no way we can know God as God wants to be known.

Challenged is one thing. Berated and persecuted is quite another.

What, you don't have them in your files?

Of course you don't.

Some selective listening, that.

More embellishment?

I said berated, not betrayed.
