Christ paid the unthinkably high price of the Grace Gift of Salvation from God to man, in full, by enduring three agonizing hours of separation from God the Father and Holy Spirit just prior to His capital punishment execution.

During those three hours God the Father imputed [judicially placed] All of Sins of Mankind [past, present and future] upon the Sinless Impeccable God-Man, Christ Jesus. He, alone, was qualified to become the sacrificial lamb. This historic act propitiated [satisfied] the Father's Justice, as Christ literally screamed out as He suffered the unimaginable anguish. None of the brutal pre-crucifixion treatment by the Roman Centurions caused even a wince. He experienced a Substitutionary Spiritual Death so that all who choose Christ [faith alone in Christ alone] will be spared that torture: alone for eternity.

Good Works are the result [or fruit] of properly motivated, maturing believers who are systematically being taught Bible Doctrine [with accuracy]; and, in so doing, acquiring the Mind of Christ by an inward transformation or renovation of their minds (Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 4:16; Ephesians 4:23). Good Works are never the means of salvation. If they were, salvation would be earned. God's Grace and Christ's Substitutionary Spiritual Death would be a colossal joke. (gb)

It is no wonder that Christians are the most greedy and selfish bastards on the planet .. much like the Rich man in the parable and like the priest and levite in the Good Samritan story. Christ will judge according to your works. I hope you jokers are ready for damnation .. it sure is coming your way.

God disciplines His Children [severely whenever He deems necessary, the Sin Unto Death] for their own benefit.

What exactly from the doctrine of Christ have to read and taken to heart? Nothing obviously. Several times Christ answered questions about how one can attain eternal life. You [and others of similar ilk] and Christ are opposites much like Christ and Anti-Christ.

"And do not be conformed to this (a) world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may (b) prove what the will of God is, that which is good and (c) acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:2 (NASB)
    Footnotes: (a) 12:2 "Or age"; (b) "Or approve"; (c) "Or well-pleasing".

"16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. 17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, 18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NASB)

"17 So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; 19 and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness."

"20 But you did not learn Christ in this way, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, 22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth." Grampy,

, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth." Ephesians 4: 17-24 (NASB)

The New American Standard Bible's translation in this instance is less satisfactory. The Recovery Version says "put off ... the old man" and "put on the new man."

You are a stickler for textual details I think. (As you indicated in a note to me about pastor / teacher skills). So I would point out the RcV's superior translation.

It is not simply the old self or the new self [ that's paraphrase ] in a most individualistic way. But it is the old man a collective fallen Adamic nature. And it is the new man to be put on which is what Christ created on the cross in Himself -

" ... that He might create the two in Himself into one new man, so making peace." (4:15)

The Recovery Version is truer to the Greek in this instance. Consequently, I think it better brings out the corporate aspects of salvation related to an old and new humanity rather than mere individual spirituality.

Take a look at the NT portion of the Recovery Version -

I see that this thread is now more about distinctions in Christian theology than basic questions. But the basic question of how it can be believed justifiably that not all are saved, remains unanswered...

Acceptance or Rejection of God's Grace Gift of Eternal Life by Faith Alone in Christ Alone
determines which human beings are saved and which are not. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

"8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."

Note: God does not coerce human volition. No Gentlemen ever forces someone's free will.

I think your method of quoting the Bible may be better than mine. Just the words in bold you wish to highlight as the need arises. I may begin to do that.

If the Bible is clear that many will die or be destroyed then obviously not all are saved.

    quoting Wikipedia on Universalism:

Some Bible verses commonly cited in Christian Universalist theology are:

    1 Corinthians 15:22[8]
"For as in Adam ALL die, so in Christ ALL will be made alive." (NIV; Emphasis Added)
"For as in Adam ALL die, so also in Christ shall ALL be made alive." (ESV; Emphasis Added)
Romans 5:18-19 (The "one trespass" and the "one man's disobedience" refer to Adam's sin, while the "act of righteousness" and the "one man's obedience" refer to Jesus' voluntary death on the cross).
"Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous." (NIV; Emphasis Added)
"Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous." (ESV; Emphasis added)
    2 Peter 3:9
"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (NIV; Emphasis Added)
"The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." (ESV; Emphasis Added)
    1 Timothy 2:3-6[8]
"This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for ALL men — the testimony given in its proper time." (NIV; Emphasis Added)
"This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for ALL, which is the testimony given at the proper time." (ESV; Emphasis Added)
    1 John 2:2
"He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world." (NIV)
"He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world." (ESV)
    1 Timothy 4:10[8]
"(and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe." (NIV; Emphasis Added)
"For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe." (ESV; Emphasis Added)
    Romans 11:32[8]
"For God has bound all men over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all." (NIV)
"For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all." (ESV)
    1 John 4:14[8]
"And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world." (NIV)
"And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world." (ESV)
